Arriving into Seychelles

I traveled to Seychelles on the first week of September 2025 from Dubai. Seychelles is an Indian ocean Island nation off the East coast of Africa. It’s also the smallest country in Africa, just 455 km²

Flying to Seychelles

Seychelles is 4 hours 15 minutes flight from Dubai (my point of origin).

Seychelles has two International airports. Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) on Mahé Island, and Praslin Island Airport (PRI). Mahe Island airport is the major international gateway. If you are flying from Eastern Hemisphere Middle East hubs are the ideal choice. Emirates flies twice daily to Seychelles with one service extending to Antananarivo in Madagascar.

The flight time from Seychelles to Madagascar is approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes for a direct flight . Emirates is the only carrier operating on this route.

Emirates operates a Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft on this route. The one I flew EK 707 was a aged aircraft probably joined the service in late 2000.

Our flight took off 30 minutes late due to air traffic congestion at DXB, however we landed just 20 minutes late.

Arriving into Mahe is a beautiful sight to behold with beautiful mountain rising on the right side and turquoise blue ocean to the left.

Mahe Island ilanding sights is a visual treat you can never forget

Airport is a single two storey built in the 60’s which looks colonial and inviting. Airport has no aerobridges so you will take staircase to access to the terminal. Immigration is a very smooth process. All visitors must have a ETA before travel and on arrival you must show the printed copy of digital version or sometimes they locate the details with passport numbers.

Warning

Do not bring any fresh fruits or vegetables to the country as Seychelles is very protective of their enivronment and ecosystem. If you are a first timer they may let you go free as in our case we had few apples with us. Fines can go up to SZR.20,000 ( Apx.US$1,300 )

Airport Taxis

Arrival transfer to hotels is quite expensive . A 10 km ride usually costs US$40
